Photonics on a Fiber
Our spin-off company HighRI Optics Corp. offers high refractive index polymers as well as high-quality photonics integrated into an optical fiber. Fiber photonics is as a low-cost and easy-to-use solution for wavefront manipulation. A line of products was developed which are truly unique – a free-form 3D optical element directly nanoimprinted onto a fiber using proprietory fiber imprint technology. Complex 3D phase masks can be reproducibly integrated into a fiber edge and produce optical performance that matches with the theoretical prediction.
One of the key features in this fiber imprint technology is that you can select the material properties of the optical elements including the index of refraction. This opens up an unprecedented opportunity to make immersion compatible lensed fibers.
Applications are many, including diffractive lenses, beam shapers, beam splitters, vortex beam generators and more. Here are examples of what is offered:

Advantages:
- Focus or collimate light directly from the fiber: NO assembly and NO parts to align!
- Customizable lens material property (e.g. high refractive n = 1.69)
- Optimized optical performance through free-form design
- Reproducible fabrication
- Focuses light in air and liquids
- Delivers light to a diffraction-limited spot with customizable focal distance
Applications:
- Integrated optics
- Optical trapping
- Endoscopic imaging
- Sensing
